August 2025

Welcome back to the Impetus Records Scene Report. Time moves fast and so does the DE DIY music scene (sometimes). We’re excited to share with you what our favorite local bands have been up to this summer.

As for Impetus, we are basking in the glow of QUICKCHANGE!’s debut LP Loud Quiet Loud, released on June 27th, and prepping some exciting new stuff for you (more info soon…) We’ll be slingin’ our wares at the legendary Philly Punk Rock Flea Market on Sunday, September 14th. Come say hi!

Check out DE Underground for a regularly-updated list of all-ages shows in Delaware (shoutout Parker), and as always, support your local music scene.

Friction Fit is a new group started up in January of this year, primarily made up of Diego Romero-Aros, Shane Spencer, and RD Yoder. Rather than being a proper band, the group operates as a collective, with various friends coming in and collaborating with the group to write songs and perform. The band recorded in early August with Joni at Prism Analog in Portland, ME and hope to have a record out by the start of next year.

QUICKCHANGE! is gonna play hella shows this fall/winter in support of the new record and are starting to work on new material, getting tighter as a live act, and prepping to make the next record.

Think Machine is now a three piece and we’ve been hard at work both reworking old material to better suit the current lineup as well as working on new material. After a lengthy hiatus from playing live, we are actively booking and can’t wait to be playing shows more regularly.

Graver’s Lane is heading to the studio this fall to record a couple of tracks that we’re planning to release by the end of the year. We’re also in the midst of writing and demoing for an LP we hope to see out sometime in fall/winter 2026.

Death By Indie have taken the rest of the summer to wade into the marsh. Our debut album Paeonia turns three this August and we’ve released something special to celebrate!

Penny Death is back! Sadder, angrier, and less human than ever. Thanks to corporate sponsor MEMORYCORP and some friends they made in the woods, new Corey and friends are back to playing shows and preparing a brand new, full length album. This is not a psyop! It’s not a psyop. Penny Death and MEMORYCORP are not a psyop. Please Venmo exactly $38 to @memorycorp for more information.

A Paramount, a Love Supreme just recorded 2 new songs that will be on a split 7 inch with another band, slated to come out hopefully sometime later this year. Liam of APALS also has a new band in the works called All Your Damage, who played their first show in Newark on July 29th.

Grandeur has been raising hell in the Delaware scene — And now they’ve got the Summer Band Jam crown to prove it. Fresh off the release of Notebook and Prom, the post-hardcore trio is revamping their live set, booking studio time, and mapping out a few tours. Between wrestling crossovers with WTW and their steady drip of singles from The Symptom Show, they’ve been making noise that’s hard to ignore. Expect more songs, more music videos, more weirdness, and probably more people in skin-tight meat suits showing up in places they probably shouldn’t.

Hive Mind is just chillin, playing shows when we can, and putting together this new album! We might be adding another guitarist to the band also!

IDLY is an alternative rock band based out of the great Newark, Delaware. The past few months we’ve been playing as many shows as we can, we recently recorded a live session in our drummer's basement which you can find on Bandcamp. We’re currently in the process of recording our first full length album at Wonderland Records with Demitri Theodoropoulos. We’re trying something totally new with this album and we can’t wait to share it. Huge thanks to Gingerfox Productions & Original Music Association of Delaware for having us at Summer Band Jam, where we placed second alongside Grandeur and St. Gorgeous. Catch us live at Squeezbox Records on September 12th & Hot Jam on September 20th at Center for the Creative Arts in Hockessin! You can find IDLY on all streaming platforms, bandcamp, their koh show live performance, they also have CD’s of their live sessions at various record stores in Delaware. Including Rainbow Records, Squeezebox Records, and Wonderland Records. Follow us on instagram @idlyband. IDLY is - Nate Williams - Guitar & Vocals / Brandon Keenan - Main Guitar / Luke Wedel - Drums / Parker Swanhart - Bass

Radio Free Delaware is a monthly-ish online radio show from Wilmington, DE.

That's all for now. Until next time,
