New year, new Scene Report! Here’s everything you may have missed over the past few months.

In Impetus News, we held our 5 Year Anniversary Show at The Queen in Wilmington this October, with performances from Kobika, Think Machine, our friends in Perennial, and Kindred (marking their last show). We also debuted our “Delaware Independent” Tote Bags, which are still available on our website here.

A couple of reminders: You can find a comprehensive list of all all-ages shows in Delaware on our site Delaware Underground. If you’d like us to include your show, please send over a copy of the flyer and as much information you have about it to shows(@)impetusde.com

As always, Impetus is still running distribution. Head over to our distro page if you’re interested in distributing any releases with us.

And finally, if you want reminders of when we put these reports out, and any other scene related news, subscribe to our newsletter here on the top right corner of our website!

Merger finally got the 7” records in from the pressing plant, and are putting on the final touches for a new release, which should be out by early March (should we all be so lucky). It's two tracks from a previously unheard recording session the band did with Joni Elfers before their breakup in September of 2019. No specific details yet, but keep an eye out over the next few weeks.

A Paramount, A Love Supreme is still working on the album, and will be touring with Doom Beach in April (Dates TBA).

Death By Indie (quite giddily) expects to end the month with their 5th-release, a 5-song experimental post punk EP titled “No Wave Veggie Dogs.” The songs are recorded in the band’s characteristic lo-fi home recordings, with Isa on guitar and bass, instrumental tracks, no drums, and spontaneous poetic prose - enjoy the ride! They’ve got shows 2/18 at The Pouch, and 3/4 at Lucky Aide (Philly). Late March dates TBD.

Grandeur is finishing up Pre Pro, and will be going into the studio to record hopefully by the end of March.Their Meat Suit Chronicles will continue online, and are planning to film some stuff in the near future.

Graver’s Lane is playing Rainbow Records w/ Think Machine and Slow Burning Daydream from Philly on February 11th. Otherwise, they have plans to write an EP which they hope to release by the end of the year, as well as part of the next album over the next couple of months. They will resume playing shows over the summer.

Khaki Cuffs recently toured with Flight Patterns, and re-released Waffle House, 1am as a single to preface an EP of several re-imagined older songs. Be on the lookout for that in the near future.

Kindred broke up in the late months of 2022, following the Impetus Anniversary Show in October. The band went back into the studio with Joni Elfers to finish a few tracks left unfinished from their recording session in June. No specific word on when yet.

Kobika is still officially "together" but with Eli Gordy-Stith moving away and their already sporadic & sparse public appearances, it seems like the band is in a limbo state.

Lemmeno said something about multi-day acid trips delaying the record until 4/20. More importantly, they’re living the Rock ‘N Roll lifestyle of sex and drugs, etc. In other news, the members seem to enjoy impersonating one another through Instagram DMs.

Lich Teeth are still in the process of recording an EP. Septic are probably doing something relatively unorganized and ridiculous, as they do.

Mind Goblin have been playing shows sporadically throughout the Fall and Winter, and released a Live VHS tape titled “Things That Go Chug In The Night,” which you can listen to on their Bandcamp here.

Moonflower played their last shows in Baltimore and Philly in late January, and are forming, effectively, a new band with the same members. Andrew Weidert says “We definitely want to give a massive thank you to Baltimore and Philly, 4333, Freestate Collective and all the bands who helped pull together our last two shows. Special shout outs also to our friends in Newark, Wilmington and South Jersey. Thanks to everyone who ever bought merch, helped us on the road, or just shot the shit with us between sets. Big respect to Impetus and Lonely Bird Records for taking a cool chance on us, if you’re still looking for a copy of Feel It Too you can grab one from them here. Lastly, we are working on some demos and ideas for a new project with a similar style in mind. We don’t have a formal name for it yet, but we’ve got a couple of songs ready and will post any new info regarding records, shows, etc via the Moonflower social media pages. Thanks for all the love for the last 7 years.”

Think Machine is currently mixing their album and working on new music for an EP and Split to follow up the album.

Finally, several solo projects of various folks have been taking shape:

Pleasance, Nate Lamborn from Think Machine & Moonflower’s solo name, is currently in the studio recording songs for an album that is also being finished writing.

Hivernaut, with Jack (formerly of Labtea), has been playing solo shows throughout the Fall and Winter.
